The Effect of Genre Approach to Improve University Students’ Critical Thinking Skills

چکیده

This study aims to determine the impact of using a genre-based approach on students’ critical thinking skills through learning write essays. uses quasi-experimental design involving 54 students (experimental and control classes) taking writing course one at Indonesian Language Literature Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Data were collected written essay test which was then assessed assessment rubric. The data analyzed SPSS 20.00 by performing paired sample t-test, independent MANOVA. group who used genre proven improve compared that conventional method. Thus, it is hoped teachers can consider this as an alternative method for improving skills.
